Oi the LAG!

It seems like lag is following me around like a bad egg. I have tried everything I could to stop the lag from plaguing me, but nothing is really helping. I have disabled add-ons, deleted my cashe folder, even just tried logging on just by myself so to see if it was because my husband was on the same network as I. Nothing works. I am so afraid to run a dungeon with Sarindre because what if she lags and everyone dies! So I just played my Mage for a dungeon run, since DPS does not really matter too much at level 25.

I am just at a loss of what I can do. I need to play so that I  can gear myself for raids, but can I even run a raid with lag this bad. The killer is that my husband has no lag! It is just crazy. He is running at green all the time and I run at yellow or red. Such a huge difference. It does not even matter if he or I log on first. This just adds to the frustration I have been having. Trying to gear and perfect a character cannot happen when you have so much lag it is sad.

So what should I do? I posted about this a few weeks ago and got a great response, which I tried, but it did not work. Any other tips I could try?

Sarindre’s To-Do List

So I mentioned yesterday how I felt frustrated and lost with being a resto druid at this time and that since I do not have a lot of time to play I will need to narrow down my focus so that I can get the most out of my play time. I decided to create a to-do list for her so that i can better follow these steps and get to be a better resto druid again.

  1. Look up and compare best specs. There are many sites that are saying which spec is the best, and currently I am running: 8/2/31 and I am really not sure if this is the best or most effective.
  2. Research gear. I have a list of the best pre-raid gear, but I need to find it and print it out!
  3. Figure out the best healing rotation.
  4. Relearn mana costs and efficiency.
  5. DO DUNGEONS. This is a must. I need better gear so I need to get on and play! Not play alts…
  6. Try to get into guild raids for gear. They will help me get some gear so I can become better.
  7. Play, play, and play some more. This is hard with the baby, but I can play during naps…I hope!

Looks like I need help kicking my butt into gear!

Blackrock Shock!

On Friday, a friend of mine thought it would be fun if my husband and I were to do a heroic with him and a tank friend. Now, I finally have a 334 gear score so I knew I could get in, but my gear was still not up to par. My husband on the other had, was sitting at 319. Our friend told him it would all be OK and to just buy some gear off the auction house at higher level and get himself to 329. We laughed knowing this was risky business, but I had no idea what was going to be in store.

Rage Quit Number One

First off, the dungeon starts and we have me healing, my husband is a DK, our friend a hunter, his friend is a druid tank, and then a mage who was randomly with us. Things were going well to start with the DPS being pretty high and healing was not so bad. When we got to the first boss, the tank just pulled and with him come some adds. Of course we wipe! My husband and I get on vent with our friend so that we can be told how the fights work. Well the mage was angry the tank pulled the adds, sighed, and left.

Rage Quit Number Two

The reque was quick and we ended up getting another mage. We were told the fights on vent and all seemed well as the boss went down. If you have not done the instance before, you will find the beating of the adds amusing! Now, our hunter friend lives in Hawaii and was having a few internet problems due to the tsunami. It cleared up fast, but he was disconnected for a few minutes.   During the time he was offline, the tank said that he hoped he was OK and the tsunami did not get him. My husband and I were in agreement since we did not know where he was located exactly but we knew the tsunami was hitting Hawaii. All three of us were genuinely concerned with no laughter or joking.  Apparently, this mage was not too happy we were talking about the tsunami and said  “You guys are horrible, you know people died. This is not funny.” And then he left the group. All of us were completely confused since none of us were saying anything rude or insensitive about the horrible things that happened in Japan. In fact, we were all sending our thoughts and prayers to all the people of Japan during this time of need. The only thing we could come up with was they had family in Japan and were upset about the situation and were having a rough time. But really, there was no need to leave and be upset.

Rage Quit Number Three

After the mage left and our hunter friend was back online and stable (he was fine, the tsunami just knocked his internet out), we requed and got a shadow priest. We were waiting near the second boss and they got ported to us. After the priest buffed and they entered shadow form the priest started running and ran smack into the boss. Death again hit us. I had never seen someone run right into the boss, but we laughed it off and waited till everyone ran back. Well, I thought we all laughed it off. As we were running back to our bodies,  the priest wrote in chat “Lesson: when you are having new members come into the party, DON’T STAND NEAR THE BOSS!” and then they left. Now, being my first time needing a replacement in a Cata dungeon, I had no idea new members would come to where everyone was standing. But, looking at what boss we were on (still the second) and where he is located, I do not see how we could have stood anywhere else. And really…who does not look before they run ahead!

Smooth Sailing

The next person to join our little party was a warrior. He was a great player and a trooper to mine and my husbands noobness! He even stayed after each wipe. Yes, we wiped once on each boss. This being due to mine and the tanks gear, we just needed a bit more to be able to handle each situation. Really, I found this dungeon interesting and fun. It was challenging (due mostly to gear level), which is something I think is much needed in WoW. Sadly, there was no good drops for me or my husband.

Ragin’ Nation

Now, I have been out of the for a little while, but during Wraith, I know there were rare times when a DPS would leave the party due to the long cues. These DPS seemed to be dropping like flies! I guess I just do not see the need to get so angry when playing a game, and I know I have discussed this before, but it is a game. Is getting mad and quitting because of a simple mistake really worth another half hour que? I do not DPS in dungeons, but even if I had a horrible tank or a rude DPS I always tried to stick it out and just ignore it. I do not like, nor think it is necessary to start conflict when you are only going to be with these other players for max an hour. I just like to sit back and enjoy playing, especially since my time to play is few and far between with the little one.

Have any of you had instances like this? DPS that just keep leaving? Tanks that pull too many mobs or are squishy? Healers that cannot heal out of a wet paper bag? What does it take for you to bail on a group?

Helping Others

If you would like to help out Japan after the earthquake, here is a great place to do it!

Brother’s Brother Foundation

Finally 85!

On Sunday, the hubby and I finally made it to 85. It really did not take as long as I thought it would. What really helped was us doing a dungeon. The baby was asleep for a while and we thought we would give it a go with a friend of ours. I was nervous, especially since I was not 100% sure on my class since the changes had been made. I replaced my gear, finally, and felt like I could give it a go. I just hoped for a good group so that I would not need to worry too much.

We were 83 when we signed up and ended up getting into Vortex Pinnacle. I was shocked by just how easily I fell back into the healer role. The heals flowed nicely and there was no deaths! Well…there was one death but it was my husband and completely his fault! He used AMS during the final boss instead of running into the triangle. We got to laugh it off in the end. I quite enjoyed the instance as well. The set up was interesting and it was  a very quick run. I love when this is so, especially with the baby. I even picked up some gear: Rainsong and Captured Lightning. I am not sure on the validity of Rainsong, how well it actually works, or if it will be useful for me, but for not it is better than my other options. Though, I have yet to see it proc, which is weird because most items I get the notice of the proc with my one addon, so I do not think I have had a proc yet. Sort of depressing.

I know that Heroics are quite a bit harder, but I can sure say that I am excited to run a few when I can, which is not too far off. I am currently at a 327 average gear score now. This is, in large part, due to the new gear I picked up with Justice Points. I was fortunate enough to have a lot of points saved up from WotLK dungeons. I am currently not sure how many you get per dungeon run, but I will need to look that up so that I can pick what is the way to save up for the new gear. What I did pick up was Blessed Hands of Elune and Thatch Eave Vines.  I find they are making a nice addition to my random blues I have received and the two I got from Vortex Pinnacle.

I am excited to run more dungeons and get the gear and practice for raids!

My Fail Class

I was reading WoW Insider today and happened upon their Breakfast Topic for today. It asked, “Is there a class you just can’t play?” Yes, I know this is a resto druid blog and most would think that would be the only class that I can play. Most days this is very true, but there are other classes that I am able to do…somewhat well at and there is a class that I am just abysmal at playing.

When I am not playing Sarindre, I tend to migrate towards melee classes. I love the feel of bashing the crap out of something with a huge mace or sword, heck even an axe! My favorites are Ret Pally and a DK. But, for the life of me I cannot play a warrior…AT ALL. I am just horrible and I have no idea why! I think I have a problem with the rage mechanic. It is really not that difficult to understand how to manage, but for some reason I am always out of rage and unable to do anything.I have tried to make may warriors in the past but have yet to achieve greatness with them. The last failed attempt was called Rambosaur. I thought a fun name and playing with my husband’s priest healer would make leveling them more enjoyable, yet I was wrong and she sits there at some low level I cannot even remember.

I seem to also have a problem playing most other classes past the point of 60. I get burned out and despise the leveling factor of the entire class. I have a total of 5 Pally’s, yes 5, and I can never get any of them to max level. The closest I have came was 71. I have a few priests too, none are above 70. The most I have leveled another character was my DK and she is only 80 at this point and has crappy gear.

To me, I believe that this is all because I have problems letting others heal until I get to the point I know they are awesome and will not let the raid die. I get anxious when I am not in the healing drivers seat. Even my husband makes me nervous, and I know it drives him crazy. But I love healing and do not have the time to make multiple raidable characters so I will be sticking with Sarindre for a long time to come!

Is there a class that you fail at? Is there a class you just do not enjoy? Why do you think that is?

When Purples are Obsolete and Greens are Ruling my World…

Getting back into the swing of WoW was not as easy as I thought it would be. In fact, just relearning my class is making my head spin, and I have learned that my daughter can sense in her sleep when I log on and will wake up instantly! But, I am lucky enough to have a ton of wonderful sites available to help me get back on track. I just did not know this track was like the mile run in high school: I can do it, but man it took me a long time. So after spending two days just pouring over blogs about healing, (mostly focusing on Restokin and on Keeva’s  Healing Guide ) I think I am finally getting back on track. But, I know I have a lot left to do.

I had been putting off replacing my epics with greens since I started the journey to 85 (currently halfway to 84 yay!). Honestly, it makes me feel a little sad every time I have to do it. Every quest reward that I knew would replace one of my epics, I would just hide deep within my bags and try not to think about. That was until the comparisons that pop up when you mouse over an item went blaring green to show me that the green I was hovering over was indeed better than my hard earned epic. Now I know this is common practice when WoW comes out with new levels. But I just hoped this time I could hold out and cherish my epics a little longer this time. Of course I was wrong. But I am not really in a rush to replace them just yet. As I have said before, I have not had a chance to run any dungeons. I would really hate for the baby to wake up during one and cause me to bounce out of there. But, a few guildies know what is going on and would not mind if I had to leave in the middle, so I just might start. My fear is that since my gear is outdated, would I even fair so well. Heck, since my healing is a bit rusty, I have this constant fear people will just die and I will be labeled a failure. Pathetic I know, but this is how I feel every time they change up druids…inexperienced.

So now I have a bag full of potential green upgrades that I just do not want to look at. At first I told myself that I was not 100% sure what stats were relevant anymore (lie) and that I would need to do a little research (partly true). I am not dumb, I know that strength and agility are magically the stats for me to take, but I truly was not sure of the priority on the gear. I know Intellect is the way to go, but what about this new Mastery, where does it fall in the grand scheme of my gear? How about Haste?! Did I still need a million points in it to be effective? I now know the answer to these questions, thanks to the blogs listed above, but I still do not want to log into the game and start the process. I can blame it on the baby hormones all I want (they are still floating in my system a little bit…I still cry at car commercials…yes I know, my husband laughs at me too) but I know they are not the only cause of my laziness. And neither is being tired, which is not happening here since the little sapling sleeps great at night (last night she slept for 10 hours straight!). I just have a hard time replacing purples with greens and it is just ingrained in my brain that this is a bad thing, even though I know it is not.

What I really should be doing is signing up for instances, getting blues, and practice my healing a bit. This will take a stretch of baby sleep time which I cannot be 100% certain about yet, but replacing with blues seems a whole lot better in my head. But tonight is the night when I will look through those greens and put the purples away (I could just DE them, but I like to hoard them till my bank is completely full…yet another character flaw!). If not tonight then tomorrow! Well I am busy tomorrow so then Friday! Hmm I might have something to do on Friday…bah it will happen I swear! 🙂

I also need to get caught up on raids, instances, professions, and achievements ( I am an achievement whore!). I have a whole lot of work to do it seems.

Does anyone else have the trouble replacing their purples with greens? Or is anyone just getting back into the swing of the game and getting overwhelmed by all the new goodies?

82 and Counting!

So being 82 and about halfway to 83 is kinda exciting, especially since I only need to get to 85 this time. Granted, I would rather not level at all, but at least it is way more fun again, almost like it was in BC.  I have not had a chance to do any dungeons yet, I would hate for the baby to wake up in the middle of one and have to bail. As always, I am leveling Resto and following my husbands DPS around to level faster. I do cast Wrath and Moonfire, but he usually kills things way too fast. Being Resto does allow him to pull a large amount of targets and not be afraid of dying, which is always a bonus.

As I was saying, I feel they have taking a lot of the daunting work out of leveling. I used to loathe having to grind all the way, but the new quests are simpler and much easier on the gathering scale. I will not lie, there are still gathering quests, and with two people questing together it can get rather annoying. But I have noticed that the drop rate of items is way better than ever. It finally does not take 30 minutes or more for 2 people to complete the gather quests. Bravo Blizzard.

Another happy change is the way swimming works. I will not lie, when I heard about all underwater zones, I was pretty nervous. I have always hated the way swimming worked in WoW, heck in every game that has some sort of underwater moving. However, I think Blizzard has made it a lot better. For one, the ability to run on the bottom of the ocean is pretty great and makes moving around easy. Granted I can just go into swim form and move quickly in any way but running at the bottom was simple and I did not get all turned around like I usually do. Secondly, the mount quest is easy, fast, and very early on allowing everyone to get a fast way of moving underwater. I do love the Seahorse mount and at first I used it, that was until I noticed that Porpi form (what I call swim form) is just as fast as the mount, that is if you have the glyph for faster swimming. I thought this was pretty cool, my husband, however, thought it was druid cheating at its best!

As far as class changes, I really have not had the time to notice. I mostly run (actually swim) around, throwing Moonfires and Rejuves. Plus, with the baby we are leveling as quickly as possible so I do not have much time to sit and analyze as of yet. The one change that I did take a look at was the Tree of Life Form, just the form not the major changes yet. Once I saw there was a glyph to not look…well like an ugly tree anymore, I rushed off to the AH to buy it and have not looked back! I am happy that I can look like myself again, even if it is only for a few seconds.

I do plan on taking a closer look at the class, talents, and spells here soon. I just need to wait for the weekend (tomorrow yay!) when there is more time and there are two of us around for baby duty.

What do you think of the new zones? How is the underwater level treating you? Better than before?
